Featured Boston Restaurant: FORUM

Located in Boston’s Back Bay, FORUM is the epitome of Boylston St. dining, situated just around the corner from the high-end boutiques and designer retailers. Boston Nightlife Ventures, the group behind The Tap, and Griddler’s, opened FORUM and transformed it into a sophisticated spot less than 2 years ago.

The DiningIn-FORUM partnership lets us deliver “somewhat futuristic food” (The Phoenix) with a modern, Bostonian comfort twist to hungry people in their homes or offices.

Lets look at 4 dishes of this top-notch Boston restaurant:

The first is FORUM’s Roasted Turkey Sandwich with Dijon, Jack cheese, roasted garlic, Swiss chard, and cranberries.

One thing that stands out about this more-than-average turkey sandwich is the Swiss chard: it has a taste very similar to spinach and the nutrients are almost always ignored.  Its slight bitterness accentuates the mild flavor of the Jack Cheese, and the roasted turkey is paired perfectly with the Dijon, and tart cranberries.

There’s no doubt as to why this layered sandwich creation is one of the most sought after FORUM Restaurant dishes through DiningIn delivery.

Second are the FORUM Sliders (above): Three beef burgers with cheddar, lettuce and spicy ketchup.

Bread is the secret to the perfect sandwich or burger, so FORUM understands the importance of fresh bun-making for the sliders.  In the middle of the two buns is a slice of cheddar cheese melting beautifully over the beef patty.  It’s all topped with just enough lines of sweet yet spicy ketchup to get some in every bite.

They say all good [tasty and succulent] things come in threes. We agree.

These delightful Fish Tacos (above) come with red cabbage, pico de gallo, and a chipotle [a dried, smoked chilli pepper] aioli.  The fish, made from local codfish, is the perfect foundation for the all around fresh toppings.

Pico de Gallo is a simple Mexican salsa of chopped tomatoes, onions, chillis, lime juice and cilantro.  All are boldly enhanced and come together in the chipotle garlicy-mayo dressing.

Overlooking the tacos on the starters section of the menu would definitely be a mistake.

The Lobster Ricotta Gnocchi (above) entrée comes with tender pieces of Maine lobster and cherry tomatoes served in a beurre blanc & sorrel pesto sauce.

What’s beurre blanc?  It’s a smooth butter sauce with white wine and vinegar reduction originating in western France.  And it goes perfectly with the pillowy gnocchi, tomatoes, and the killer pesto sauce.  Overall, the combination of the heavenly New England style “lobstah” and the authentic Italian ricotta gnocchi of this dish screams Boston.

Looking for a night out?

Some of the best cocktails in the city are right here at FORUM, featuring two floors and a fantastic view overlooking Boylston Street, just behind Prudential.  Better yet, their huge selection of over 1300 wines from around the world, signature garnished drinks, and great brews will leave you feeling like a million bucks.
