Featured Dallas Restaurant: Humperdinks Restaurant & Brewery
Yes, the name's real. Is there any way you could better name a restaurant and brewery that serves burgers, pizza, tacos, salmon, and even Fried Catfish and Chicken & Waffles? Maybe, but whatever name you come up with couldn’t possibly be as fun as Humperdinks'.
For those of you that have eaten at or ordered from Humperdinks before, you know the deal. You’ll typically spend up to a 1/2 hour deliberating with yourself about what you should order. Should I get a burger? A pizza? Maybe I’ll just order a salad, or just go barbarian and order 3-4 appetizers and live off those.
Whatever you choose, and whatever you don’t choose that you’ll surely go back for more of, you’ll be satisfied from top to bottom by Humperdinks. And whether or not you’re going in strictly for a light meal or if you’re going in for a four-course feast fit for a king, the best place to start on the menu is with the appetizers. They have many of your favorite classic appetizers, including Potato Skins, Nachos Deluxe, Mozzarella Sticks, Hot Wings and Loaded Cheese Fries - but the list does not even come close to stopping there.
In fact, it goes on for days and days. Try some Crispy Shrimp Bites, a Hummus & Veggie platter, Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Fried Pickle Chips or the Southwestern Egg Rolls. If you have a taste for the spicier things in life, try the Amardillo Eggs (below) – they’re large jalapenos stuffed with cheddar-jack cheese and chicken, battered and cooked golden. If you’re just completely indecisive and can’t make up your mind by any means, stick to the Humperdinks Supreme Sampler – instead of getting a pre-picked appetizer combo, though, you get to pick the three entrees you want the most!
Now to the salad – and I’m just going to assume that you guys are all going to be eating like pigs here, because if you’re going to eat like a pig anyway there aren’t many places better to do it in than Humperdinks. Humperdinks offers several side salad options – there’s the House Greens, Signature Caesar or Iceberg Wedge – but their pride lies in their salad entrees. We recommend that you try the Apple Walnut Chicken Salad (topped off with Raspberry Ginger Vinaigrette dressing), the Roma Steak Salad (topped with a sliced 6 oz. char-grilled Sirloin Steak), and of course the Texas Taco Salad – which you can have with either chicken or steak. The best part about each of the salad entrees is that they are all served with a signature house-made brewhouse breadstick.
Humperdinks sandwiches are to die for, too. Their Oven-Roasted Beef Dip Sandwich could possibly fulfill the everlasting insatiable craving that most sandwich connoisseurs have for Au Jus-dipped hoagies, and their Signature Cuban Sandwich makes you ask yourself when you’re eating it whether you’re actually in Texas or Cuba. Humperdinks burger options are endless – and along with their endless burger options they also have a wide selection of Kobe Beef Burgers as well.
Now it’s time for the entrees… Seriously, be sure to save a little bit of room for these. If you’re feeling a bit on the lighter side, try one of Humperdinks calorie-conscious delightful entrees – the Veggie Delight Burger has only 537 calories, the Chicken & Garlic Shrimp has just 476, and the Steak & Garlic Shrimp Combo has only 548. If you’re not overly cautious about your calorie intake, first and foremost you should order the Chicken & Waffles. Honestly, guys – you need to cherish the few restaurants in this world that actually serve Chicken & Waffles, and Humperdinks serves some Chicken & Waffles that are worth cherishing. If Chicken & Waffles aren’t your thing, you could always try the Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Chicken, the Baby Back Ribs (below), the Grilled Tuscan Meatloaf, or the Shrimp & Catfish Combo Platter.
Humperdinks also offers pizza, tacos, steak, salmon, seafood, and pretty much everything else under the sun. Chances are, even if you have a handful of fussy eaters in your family, they will be able to find something that they can happily chow down on from Humperdinks.
