Scoozi Kenmore: Home of the Grilled Bourbon-Marinated Sirloin Steak Tips
In the center of Kenmore Square, just blocks away from America’s beloved Fenway Park, is Scoozi, “Boston’s favorite Pizza and Sandwich place,” and home of the Grilled Bourbon-Marinated Sirloin Steak Tips.
Jamie Deveney, owner of Scoozi, first kicked-off his entrepreneurial role in the food and restaurant industry in 1993 with a pizza joint called New Fair Pizza, named after its location on the corner of Newbury Street and Fairfield Street, serving classic subs and pizzas.
Shortly after New Fair Pizza’s closing, Deveney opened up the original Scoozi on Newbury Street, a new, upscale sandwich and sandwich concept, which quickly captured the hearts and hungry stomachs of students in Boston. The steak tips, a Scoozi staple, served with white jasmine rice and mesculin greens, are a must-have amongst the regulars at both the Newbury Street and Kenmore Square spots.
In 2010, a window-filled Kenmore Square location opened up in the middle of Boston University campus, which Deveney says has been booming with popularity and business ever since.
It’s common to run into anyone from students, corporate clients, and often tourists stopping by the restaurant for a drink, a homey Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, or Fish and Chips after late-night meal after the game.
“We get a lot of international college students,” he said, “also a big crowd stopping by before the Red Sox game, and people from the area looking for good food at a good price.”
With 17 beers and Richer Pour Wine’s 2010 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon and 2011 Carneros Chadronnay on tap, it’s the ideal stop after a Red Sox game.
If you walk by the outdoor patio during the late springs and summer, you’ll be sure spot their signature red umbrellas, and orange-colored Sangria pitchers on every table.
*Make the original Scoozi Sangria at home: simple syrup, Triple Sec, your choice of red wine, chunks of fruits, and a splash of Brandy.
Scoozi Kenmore focuses on great, fresh taste, and it's ability to comply with any customers' needs. Note: All salad dressings are made in house, and are 100% nut-free.
The haddock and steaks are bought locally, and the kitchen uses nothing but all-natural organic chicken from appetizers to dishes, ensuring freshness and support for the local community.
Have a sweet tooth? All of Scoozi Kenmore’s desserts are made from scratch and fresh in house.
The best-selling are the Chocolate Soufflé (chocolate cake with a rich, molten chocolate center, server with vanilla ice cream) and Tiramisu (Italian style Tiramisu, espresso soaked lady fingers alternated with a cocktail of creams, elegantly dusted with cocoa powder made with Mascarpone cheese).
Without a doubt, Scoozi and its staff are proud to provide “great food and a very cool ambiance.” You can catch the staff wearing bright, red shirts when the Boston Red Sox play on the home turf, showing their support to the team, and serving the best Panini, Pizza, Pasta, and Salads in Boston's Kenmore Square.
