Staff Picks: If You Won A Million Dollars...
If you won $1,000,000, what would you do?
Most people would purchase a new car or a new house; some would go on an exquisitely overpriced vacation; a few would just throw a gigantic party for themself and their friends - possibly in their new house.
A real, true, down-and-dirty foodie knows what he or she would do, too – and that’s head to an upscale, five-star restaurant that serves cuisines that your taste buds don’t normally get to savor. This is what I would do, and this is what many DiningIn employees would do as well – and that’s why I’ve brought the band back together this week to tell us what restaurant in our delivery network they would eat from if they won a million dollars.
Jay H, Marketing Manager - Ordering sushi with no budget is the most appealing option for me, and my local favorite is FuGaKyu Japanese Cuisine in Brookline - hands down. I would start with a House Salad covered with their signature ginger salad dressing coupled with an order of pan-fried pork Gyoza. Then, I’d move to a repertoire of Maki rolls including Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura, Volcano and Spicy Yellowtail. If I won a million dollars and did this, sushi never would have tasted so good from FuGaKyu.
Paul K, Chicago Operations Manager - If I won a million dollars, there would be little doubt as to which restaurant I would order food from to celebrate, and that restaurant is Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak, and Stone Crab. From their myriad of seafood options for the heart healthy (including their famous crab, pictured on the right), to the more indulgent Bone-in Rib eye, this restaurant will not disappoint anyone by any means. Their soups and salads are always tasty, and their sides are always generously proportioned. To wrap up a perfect meal, I would have no choice but to order Joe’s famous Key Lime Pie. Though they have many dessert options, this one stands alone. While I will have sweet dreams tonight thinking about this meal, I highly suggest you make it a reality as soon as your pocket book allows.
Christian R, Dallas Operations Manager - There is no better way to spend a fortune on dinner in Texas than at a fine steakhouse, and it is an ongoing wish of many in the DiningIn Dallas office to order from Silver Fox Steakhouse. If I won the lottery, I would order a catering order of the Bone-in Prime Ribeye for everyone. Served with savory potatoes, sugar snap peas, off the cob cream corn, ripe tomatoes and spring onions, it is any carnivores dream to eat.
Joe G, Philadelphia General Manager - If I won the lottery and didn’t have to worry about spending “too much” on a meal, my go-to restaurant would be Jose Garces’ Amada. From Amada, my meal of choice would be Piquillos Rellenos (Crab-Stuffed Peppers) for my appetizer and Lobster Paella and Chuleta (Dry-aged Prime Ribeye) for my main course. Since I would be so full from all of this wonderful food, I am going to skip dessert - just this time...
Cleo H, Twin Cities Quality Control - If I won a million dollars, I would definitely take someone with me to Raku - a sushi restaurant. I’d order for two and allow the person to order as well. I would start off with Seafood Soup because I consistently crave Seafood Soup and always get it no matter where I go (if they have it); Rock Shrimp Tempura because I’ve always loved it; a Crispy Duck Salad and Duck Spring Rolls because I looove duck, and Age Dashi Tofu because I savor the texture of tofu (especially with Raku’s Japanese dipping sauce). For my entrée, I would order Beef Yaki Udon and Beef Japanese Fried Rice, along with one Salmon Roll, and two Spicy Salmon Rolls (pictured above). I would also get a Hurricane Roll because it is topped with caviar and has spicy salmon, which I obviously love! On the side, I would have Uni/Sea Urchin Caviar because it is amazing and their respective textures are so fun. To finish off this gracious million-dollar meal, I would have Vanilla Fried Ice Cream because well, anything fried is good!
