Featured Restaurant: Jersey Mike's Subs
In case you weren’t completely familiar with their standard practices, I figured it would be relevant to inform you of the fact that Jersey Mike’s Subs is one of the very few sandwich/submarine chains still in existence to this day that slices their meat to order. There are no pre-sliced cold cuts, no microwaves, no microwave-looking über-düber toasters and no pre-packaged sandwiches. Oh, and even better: there’s also no hint of pre-sliced cheese. Jersey Mike’s doesn’t want anything to do with that.
Founded in 1956 in Jersey Shore’s Point Pleasant, NJ, Jersey Mike’s now has over 750 locations throughout the United States. They’ve been serving East-coast style subs on fresh baked bread ever since they’ve opened, satisfying customers now all the way from the Jersey Shore and the Atlantic Ocean to the west coast California beaches and the Pacific Ocean.
Jersey Mike’s Subs splits their menu up very simply – between hot subs and cold subs. With this evenly divisive split, they still certainly cover all bases without getting overly creative, as their menu of hot subs only features six total subs.
Despite the simplicity of the context of the menu, you should know thoroughly that each sandwich/submarine is stuffed wholeheartedly with deliciousness, authenticity and plenty of fillings.
One of my personal favorites (which usually serves as my typical favorite from any sub shop that happens to sell it) is Jersey Mike’s Famous Philly Cheesesteak. Although you have the choice of getting a Cheesesteak with chicken, everyone knows that the Philly Cheesesteak must be ordered with steak if you want to enjoy it to the utmost extent.
Jersey Mikes’ Philly Cheesesteak is served with a perfect portion of grilled onions and pepper, and is pictured below:
My other favorite sub from Jersey Mike’s is their beefier variation of the Philly Cheesesteak – the Big Kahuna Cheese Sub. Along with the grilled onions and peppers, this sub is also served with mushrooms, jalapenos, and extra cheese to fulfill the hunger of any hungry man or woman.
At 7.5 inches, the regular sized sub is bound to feed most of anyone – but if you’ve got an American-sized craving for an authentic American dish, you can always go giant and make a bold attempt at putting down a sandwich three inches longer than a foot long.
Other (hot) bestsellers from Jersey Mike's include the Meatball and Cheese Sub and the Chicken Parmesan sub (both served conveniently with the perfect amount of tomato sauce, ensuring a bold Italian flavor without making the sub roll itself all soggy) along with the infamous Grilled Pastrami Reuben Sub (because let’s be real: pastrami is so much better than corned beef).
Sometimes, though, a Cheesesteak or another hot sub from Jersey Mike’s might not be the best thing to eat during the often-hot summers in Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia – so Jersey Mike’s offers a wide variety of cold subs to make your lunches and dinners better, too.
Their famous sub, the Jersey Shore’s Favorite Sub, is a fan favorite featuring Provolone cheese, ham and cappacuolo - of course all sliced to order (pictured below).
Other cold Jersey Mike’s favorites include the Club Supreme Sub – featuring Roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese, bacon, and mayonnaise – and the Cancro Special Sub – which contains certified angus beef, pepperoni and provolone cheese.
If you’re looking for something much simpler, menu items such as BLT Subs, Ham and cheese Subs, Veggie Subs and Turkey Wraps are also available from Jersey Mike’s, but you’re doing yourself a serious disservice by missing out on their most popular and most coveted menu items.
DiningIn delivers the delicious subs from Jersey Mike’s locations in Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia. Catering orders are also available for delivery from Jersey Mike’s for home parties, office luncheons or whatever your situation calls for.
