Staff Picks: Delicious Desserts
What is unquestionably the best (but the least important nutritionally) meal of the day?
We know that breakfast lovers like Channing Tatum might say breakfast, habitual carnivores with tastes for delicious, thick-cut steaks might say dinner, Reuben lovers will probably say lunch above anything else, but anyone in their right mind who has one out of thirty two teeth that is a sweet tooth knows very well that the best meal of the day is dessert.
Yes: dessert. Cakes, pies, various flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt, scones, great walls of chocolate, and more make up the major players of the best (and least healthy) meal of the day. DiningIn will deliver all of these sweet treats and more to your door, and our employees (who may or may not have more than one sweet tooth) have joined in to help you find out where to get delicious desserts in each of our cities, from Boston to Minneapolis to Dallas to Chicago to Philadelphia.
Who knows – maybe one of these following recommendations will put you into the category of most loved one of all loved ones on this upcoming Valentine’s Day after you order your significant other a surprise dessert delivery order. Besides, what’s a romantic Valentine’s Day without sharing a succulent dessert?
See below for the DiningIn Staff Picks for delicious desserts:
Chris G, Boston Sales Representative - The Half-Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake from Sweet Cupcakes is by far one of the best desserts that DiningIn will deliver. For anyone who loves cookie dough or chocolate chip cookies, this is a must try! The moist vanilla bean sweet cake with half-baked cookie dough inside is enough to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth but they don’t stop there. They top the cupcake with a dollop of buttercream and finish it with chocolate chips! It’s the ultimate cupcake experience!
Dontae O, Chicago Customer Experience – Your day wouldn’t be the same without Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steaks and Stone Crab's Famous Key Lime Pie (pictured on the right). This pie has a creamy tart filling inside a graham cracker crust topped with whipped cream and a splash of lime that’s different from anyone else’s. I can honestly say this pie will have you smiling after every bite. You’d be crazy not to have a slice of this delicious pie!
Katy S, Dallas Concierge – P.F. Chang’s Great Wall of Chocolate is my ideal dessert. The restaurant says “its perfect for sharing” which means my 5 closest friends and I can enjoy 6 layers chocolaty goodness – with leftovers for the next day. When dining alone, I like to order any of the Sweet Treats for a perfect shot-sized dessert that satisfies my sweet tooth.
Kelly G, Minneapolis Restaurant Consultant – I take dessert seriously. Being a Minnesota mom who loves baking, I have been addicted to sugar for as long as I can remember. Whether at my favorite local restaurant or at one of the hot new eateries popping up all over the city, I will always save room to try a new dessert. Mama’s Bakery offers a variety of house-made desserts, like rich and flavorful pumpkins bar with cream cheese frosting and my favorite dessert disguised as breakfast - moist homemade Scones. With flavors like apple cinnamon spice and white chocolate raspberry, these sweet treats will make even the most Monday-like mornings feel a little brighter.
Joe P, Philly Operations Manager - An oldie but goodie dessert is the Tiramisu at Maggiano’s Little Italy (shown below in the video from DishClips.com). Not only is it delicious, but also it is big enough for two people. The sweet Mascarpone cheese combined with the slight bitterness of the coffee is a balance of flavors that was made in heaven.
