DiningIn Staff Picks: Healthy Meals For A Healthy 2014
Resolutionists unite! I know that we’re three months into the new year already, but that doesn’t mean that it’s right to give up your new years resolutions so fast. You know deep down inside that you’re more than capable of continuing that healthy diet all the way into the summer to get that oh-so-coveted beach bod, so let us help you do it! We’ve compiled a list of some of the healthiest restaurants in each of DiningIn's cities – Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis and Philadelphia – to help you get back into the swing of your respective New Years Resolutions.
Suiki L, Boston Corporate Client Service – The Mango Cranberry Salad at Tossed is the best salad I’ve ever had! The Mango Cranberry Salad from Tossed contains many different ingredients: baby field greens, roasted chicken, goat cheese, almonds, jicama, cucumbers, dried cranberries and sherry wine vinaigrette. It’s definitely not a “normal” salad that you’ll get from normal restaurants – all the ingredients are extremely fresh. The salad also comes in a very generous portion for a decent price! The Mango Cranberry Salad from Tossed is a must try!

Dominick P, Chicago Quality Control – When deciding to become healthy, some of the more difficult choices come when you’re dining out (or DiningIn!). Making the right choices in these cases can help transform you into a healthy and stronger version of yourself. One of my favorite choices is The Goddess and Grocer’s Salmon Nicoise, a dish that contains an abundant amount of vitamin B12, D, and Omega 3 fatty acids along with multiple servings of vegetables. The protein in this dish is high while the carbohydrates come from a healthy source of potatoes. For a healthy dessert, you can’t go wrong with Pinkberry’s Kiwi Mango Greek Yogurt. Smart choices like these will allow you to enjoy some wonderful restaurants at DiningIn without the feeling of guilt. Indulge in healthiness!
Caitlin R, Dallas General Manager – I am addicted to the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Tiffany’s Avocado Bowl with Spicy Tuna from Southpaw’s Organic Grill. Between the homemade peanut sauce on the lettuce wraps and house dressing drizzled over spinach in the avocado bowl, the tastes can’t be replicated anywhere else. Knowing the entire Southpaw’s menu is free of added sugars, syrups, preservatives and nitrates means I can always feel good about eating there.

Kelly G, Minneapolis Restaurant Consultant – Many of us made New Years resolutions to lose weight and eat healthier in 2014, but when ordering in for your entire staff, how do you offer healthy options without breaking your budget? Nothing screams “healthy and boring” quite like a salad, but Q. Cumbers, one of Edina’s few buffet-style restaurants, takes this responsible meal and turns it into something fun. A staple in the area since 1990, Q. Cumbers’ owners are passionate about great food and healthy living. Surprise your staff with cost effective build-your-own salad bars, customized to your staff preferences. Start by selecting from Spring Mix, Spinach, Romaine or Iceberg lettuces, then add in your choice of their 24 toppings, from traditional items like green peppers, carrots and tomatoes to more daring selections like pickled beets, garbanzo beans or dried cherries. Top off your buffet with your choice of 8 house made dressings, hot soup or build-your-own baked potatoes, and you are sure to offer even the pickiest eater something that suits their taste.
Joe G, Philly General Manager - Eating healthy isn’t the easiest thing in the world, mainly because healthy doesn’t always equal great taste. However, the Greek Salad at Sabrina’s Cafe is a great way to get the best of both worlds. Not only does it taste great, but also their portion size is enough for two meals, especially when you get it with grilled chicken. This is hands-down my favorite salad in Philly.
