DiningIn Staff Picks: Best Comfort Food Delivery
The definition of “Comfort Food” varies greatly from person-to-person, city-to-city and cuisine-to-cuisine. Some may see chicken as comfort food while others see it as a healthy source of protein. Whatever your views are, you can probably appreciate our DiningIn employees’ views on comfort food – as they are in fact foodies/food experts. Let us tell you where you can get the best comfort food delivered from in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis and Philadelphia.
Lissbeth L, Boston Quality Control – I am not a big fan of pizza, but after trying the vegetarian Puttanesca pizza from Regina Pizzeria loaded with olives, artichoke hearts, different flavored cheeses and sprinkled with fresh basil, I am a pizza fan. This just hits the spot and is a delicious comfort food. It’s a perfect choice to bring home to your family. It’s healthy, filling and it will make you want to order again and again. I promise you!
Snow R, Chicago Quality Control - Rosebud and its affiliated restaurants are some of the most popular Italian restaurants DiningIn delivers for in the city of Chicago, serving authentic and high quality meals. From their homemade pastas to their signature items like the Brick Chicken, no matter when I order Rosebud I always end up as full as can be. With that being said, Rosebud on Taylor has one of my all-time favorite salads: The Eggplant Salad (pictured on the right). I am not a big fan of Eggplant but this salad sure did win me over! Without any question it is the best salad I have ever eaten. I'd describe The Eggplant Salad from Rosebud as "Caprese Salad gone wild!" This popular dish starts with the typical Caprese Salad ingredients, including thick slices of beefsteak tomatoes and of course buffalo mozzarella cheese. Rather than simply stacking these two ingredients together, though, Rosebud adds thinly sliced deep fried eggplant to make a savory and authentic tasting salad. With multiple layers, the salad ends up being a good three inches tall and even taller with the pile of arugula and of course the drizzle of that amazing balsamic vinegar dressing. The balsamic has that thicker consistency showing its aged quality, and it has an incredible sweet-tangy balance. The eggplant adds the contrasting crunchy texture and the mozzarella adds the creaminess. The tomatoes and arugula are extremely fresh, making it actually feel like a salad. Even though the individual parts taste great, I highly suggest making sure each bite has a little of each component. This salad is big enough for a meal or can be shared amongst two people for an appetizer. Do not add chicken to it or any of the other ingredients that are listed. The salad is perfect the way it was intended. Wow! In my opinion, this is the best and most unique item on their menu. Ever since I discovered it, I order it every time.
Christian R, Dallas Operations Manager – My comfort food is Thai, and my restaurant of choice is Thai Box. I love a big bowl of Pad See Ew and Chicken Tom Kha. It’s the best way to warm up during this cold winter, day or night.
Matt A, Minneapolis Copywriter - When I think comfort food, I think of something that makes me smile as it finds its way into my belly, and one of the first things I think about is barbecue. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is my go-to Minneapolis comfort food. For lunch, I'll pick the one-meat plate, but for dinner, I pick the two-meat plate. My meats of choice are the Southern Pulled Pork and the Fall Off The Bone Ribs, but if you can read you're old enough to make your own choices there. When it comes to sides, though, don't miss out on the Green Beans With Bacon. You heard it here first.
Danielle W, Philly Corporate Concierge - The Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese combo (pictured above) at Jones is amazing. It is simple, filling and delicious. It is my go-to comfort food meal without the ridiculous amount of extra calories.
